Behind the Craft: How Our Alabaster Chandeliers Are Made

Bright House Team Oct 15, 2025 6 min read min read

Every alabaster chandelier in our collection begins its journey as a raw block of stone, quarried from select deposits known for their exceptional translucency and warm colour.

Quarrying & Selection

Our master craftspeople personally select each block, looking for uniform colour and minimal veining. Only about 30% of quarried alabaster meets our quality standards.

Turning & Carving

Each bowl and shade is turned on a lathe by a skilled artisan who has trained for years. The stone is gradually thinned to just 8-12mm, allowing light to pass through while maintaining structural integrity.

Finishing & Assembly

After turning, each piece is hand-sanded through five grits, then waxed with a natural beeswax polish. The stone components are then carefully assembled onto precision-engineered brass frames in our workshop.

Quality Control

Every finished chandelier undergoes 24 hours of burn-in testing to ensure perfect electrical function and to verify the quality of light transmission through the stone.
